Position Type: Secondary Summer School Behavior Intervention Specialist - Pool
Location: John Glenn Middle School
Work Schedule: Monday-Thursday - up to 10 hours before Summer School starts, 6.75 hours per day during Summer Programming
Summer Program Dates: June 17- July 25 (No school on June 19 or the week of July 1-5)
Summer Program Time: 7:45AM -12:45PM
Start Date: June 2024
Pay: $25.41/Hr
Purpose of Program:
- To provide ISD 622 students (grades 9 -12) with the opportunity to recover course credits required for graduation through Credit Recovery and Bridge to High School Program
- Students in grades 9-12 Credit Recovery and 8th grade Bridge to High School who are at risk of not graduating on time.
- Credit Recovery Students will participate 2 days/wk in person (7:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.) and 2 days/wk asynchronous remote learning, half of the students will attend in person each day.
- Brige to High School Students will participate 4 days/wk in person (7:45 a.m.-12:45p.m.)
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree; or equivalent experience
- Experience in communicating behavior management techniques;
- Effective written and oral communication skills;
- Minimum of two years experience working with students with Emotional and/or Behavioral Disabilities;
- Ability to maintain a safe environment through interpersonal and physical interaction techniques.
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with concentration in behavioral sciences, emotional disturbance and effective intervention techniques;
- Experience and training in crisis interventions;
- Experience working with IEP teams;
- CPR and First Aid training;
- Knowledge of community wrap around services.
Major Areas of Accountability:
- Provide support and practical training to students needing behavioral interventions;
- Assist the classroom teacher and Student Development Specialist with: implementing instructional plans; organizing learning materials; assisting with classroom activities; and supporting the social/emotional growth of students; supervising ISS and social programs curriculum;
- Assist with redirecting inappropriate behaviors of students, provide positive Behavior Interventions;
- Promote a safe and productive learning environment for students;
- Monitor and record data pertaining to the educational progress of regular education students;
- Maintain data privacy;
- Perform other duties as assigned;
