Job description

Design and implement lessons that promote adventurous thinking, collaborative learning and kindhearted leaders. Learns the art and skills of teaching while directly serving students under the guidance of a lead teacher. Collaborates lead teacher(s) to plan, implement, and evaluate instructional programs for area(s) of assignment and student population. Modifies instruction based on feedback and refection. Works cooperatively with administration and staff at the building level to best meet the educational needs of the student population. Demonstrates ambition and is intrinsically motivated to best meet the needs of our students and schools.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assumes responsibility for providing instruction to students consistent with the District Goals and Objectives.
2. Uses problem solving skills and critical thinking to modify instruction for students not performing appropriately with grade level materials.
3. Uses current research relevant to instructional strategies in most effectively organizing classroom activities.
4. Demonstrate knowledge in subject areas.
5. Uses effective communication skills.
6. Help students develop positive self-concepts, strong life skills and positive habits of mind. 7. Support and implement established District programs to promote positive students behavior
8. Follow the policies and procedures of the School and District.
9. Takes into account student's abilities and learning and promotes student self-advocacy in both classroom and real world environment.
10. Obtains and uses information about students and seek assistance from specialist.
11. Takes into account different rates of learning while still focusing on and encourage completion of goals.
12. Uses acceptable written and oral expression.
13. Use a variety of teaching methods appropriately and effectively.
14. Demonstrates the ability to work collaboratively with individuals, small and large groups. 15. Provide opportunities for practice and participation.
16. Uses instructional time effectively.
17. Attends to routine tasks.
18. Maintain an attractive and stimulating learning environment.
19. Demonstrates caring, warmth, generosity and friendliness.
20. Demonstrate sensitivity to the needs and feelings of students as well as their ideas and your relationship with the students.
21. Maintain positive classroom behavior while creating a teaching environment of curiosity, creativity and sense of wonder.
22. Manages disruptive behavior while still promoting physical and social-wellbeing
23. Uses cultural awareness when working cooperatively with parents
24. Participate in professional growth activities exclusive of required in-services which may include community service.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: BA or MA degree required. Demonstrate accountability for student growth in all areas consistent with District developed objectives
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Instructional Aides and others as assigned by the Principal.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals in English. Ability to write routine reports and business correspondence and procedure manuals in English. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to speak effectively with other employees and/or students in English. Ability to present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, other employees and/or students.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to apply basic arithmetic calculations using units of American money weights measurements, volume and distance. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply simple understanding to carry out detailed but basic written and/or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a variety of concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Possess Basic Elementary Teaching Certificate. Possess special area endorsements as required by state and/or federal regulations or District policy and procedure. Valid Fingerprint Clearance Card.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Ability to work in a friendly manner and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the community. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and board policies
