North Dakota State Hospital - Jamestown, ND - Seasonal Grounds Maintenance Worker (May-September)
Qualified candidates will be considered upon receipt of application. The position may be filled prior to the listed closing date after successful completion of the application and interview process.
The North Dakota State Hospital (NDSH), located in Jamestown, is a specialized psychiatric hospital that serves the whole state. Services focus on psychiatric rehabilitation, residential substance use disorders treatment, and residential treatment for sexually dangerous individuals.
This position will assist the Plant Services Department (Grounds and Maintenance) in maintaining the State Hospital Campus grounds and buildings in a safe and attractive manner. This position will also assist with garbage collection and transportation of garbage and debris to the city landfill. Primary duties and related tasks are as follows:
Maintain Safety and Appearance of Lawns and Trees
This position requires a valid driver's license and successful completion of the assigned defensive driving course during new-hire orientation

- Operate lawn mower, skid steer, weed trimmers, and hand tools to maintain grass, trees, shrubs, etc.
- Manually mow, trim trees, and weed areas where equipment cannot reach and assist with landscaping.
- Work alongside/supervise client workers, working for the grounds department.
- Assist loading garbage truck in collection of garbage throughout the campus.
- Assist with loading tree branches and debris into the dump truck and transport to the city landfill.
- Work alongside/supervise client workers assisting with garbage removal.
- Perform minor repairs and maintenance of grounds equipment.
- Test swimming pool chemicals and AED readiness when assigned.
- Assist other Plant Services staff with special projects when assigned.
