The Position

The Scientist/Computational Biologist - Genetics, will be a key member of Dicerna's Systems biology team and will engage in multiple internal and partnered research and discovery efforts. Dicerna is seeking a highly motivated, experienced Ph.D. scientist to help in our siRNA drug discovery efforts. This is a hands-on research position that requires strong expertise in human genetics. 

 

Relationships

This position reports to Senior Scientist, Systems Biology.

 

Essential Functions

  • Perform large-scale genetic and genomic analyses (including but not limited to GWAS, PRS, TRS) to identify novel genes and pathways involved in disease pathogenesis.
  • Analyze and interpret multi-omics data sets, including whole genome sequencing, whole exome sequencing, transcriptomics, ATAC-seq, chromatin interaction, and epigenetic data.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement genetic and genomic strategies for drug discovery and development
  • Provide guidance on genetics and genomics to project teams and explain genetic analyses and their implications to team members of diverse backgrounds to drive decision-making processes

 

Physical Requirements

Up to 10% overnight travel required. 

 

Qualifications

  • Masters degree requried, PhD in Genetics, Molecular Biology, or a related field highly preferred. 
    • Masters with 3+ years of relevant experience OR PhD in 2+ years experience
  • ​​​​​​​Relevant experience includes:
    • Strong track record of human genetics-related scientific publication in high-quality journal(s).
    • Experience in genetic and genomic data analysis and interpretation, including familiarity with bioinformatics tools and databases.
    • Experience with NGS (genomics and transcriptomics) methods
  • Demonstrated ability to incorporate new technologies and methodologies into research projects is a plus
  • Experience with laboratory techniques such as DNA sequencing, RNA sequencing, and RNA interference is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to present complex scientific data to non-expert audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a high level of scientific creativity and innovation.
