Job description

The Role: 

The Technology Development group at Life Edit discovers new genome editing systems and establishes new editing capabilities and optimizes them to support efforts developing curative gene editing therapies and gene edited cell therapies. We are looking for an enthusiastic, competent, and self-motivated Scientist with a strong background in mammalian cell culture and genome editing to help expand our technology development platforms and therapeutic capabilities.   

Here’s What You’ll Do: 

  • Perform routine cell culture to maintain various cell lines and execute experiments 
  • Evaluate Life Edit gene editing systems in mammalian cells to identify optimally engineered systems for further therapeutic discovery and development 
  • Lead the formulation of new strategies to improve Life Edit’s genome editors and develop cell-based assays by which to evaluate them
  • Analyze experimental data and present scientific results at team research meetings
  • Collaborate closely with computational biology, gene editing and preclinical teams
  • Maintain meticulous records of experimental methods, tool development and protocols
  • Follow current literature in the field of gene therapy and genome editing and attend conferences

Requirements: 

  • PhD with 0 - 3 years of applicable experience in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or a related field; research experience in genome editing highly preferred
  • Experience in culturing, transfecting, and analyzing mammalian cells using cell-based assays (flow cytometry, cell proliferation, and viability assays)—prior experience with primary cell lines is a plus
  • Experience with modern molecular biology techniques including DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, Flow cytometry and ELISAs
  • Prior experience with CRISPR systems and familiarity with NGS techniques is advantageous
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
