ABOUT THE POSITIONThe Receptionist serves as a key member of the School Support Team as the first point of contact for the public within the assigned school building. The Receptionist is tasked with greeting visitors and callers, addressing questions and needs and supporting school administrators, all while providing a welcoming, safe and secure learning environment. JOB QUALIFICATIONSThis position requires any combination equivalent to: A high school diploma or G.E.D.

Certificate as required by Kentucky law.Two (2) years of responsible and varied secretarial experience preferred. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe following are listed for reference. Success will involve the ongoing demonstration of desire and ability to perform responsibilities effectively, efficiently, pleasantly and with a focus on student success.

Serve as the primary point of contact for all visitors while providing a welcoming, safe and secure learning environment. Greet visitors and answer phone calls; answer questions, provide information or direct individuals to appropriate employees.Receive, open, sort and distribute mail, packages and other deliveries.Schedule appointments and meetings with students, parents, teachers, administrators, vendors and the general public.Assist the Principal with administrative matters in accordance with established procedures and policies; refer problems to appropriate administrators.Perform a variety of secretarial and clerical duties with routine administrative details and general clerical tasks; type, file and transcribe or compose daily announcements and other letters, memoranda, documents and correspondence as directed.Assist with office activities and communications related to student and staff attendance and student workers. Serve as a point of contact for collecting funds and documentation for a variety of purposes, maintaining detailed records of such.

Administer minor first aid and medication, including but not limited to tablets, capsules, liquid medications, inhalers, injections and nebulizers - all based on provided training and according to policy and regulation. Operate a variety of technology and equipment, including a computer, various types of software, copiers and other office equipment. Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures and equipment, including phone techniques and etiquette, and record-keeping techniques.Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, vocabulary and oral and written communication skills - practicing interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others, understand and work within scope of authority.Participate in staff activities and in special training programs.

Maintain regular attendance. Strict adherence to the Policies and Procedures of the Boyle County Board of Education, the Employee Handbook and Kentucky Revised Statutes. Fulfilling contractual obligation of days worked.

Perform other duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Student workers and parent volunteers as assigned. WORKING CONDITIONSRegularly required to use hands for simple grasping and fine manipulatives.Regularly required to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing.Frequently required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
