Until FilledThe Panama-Buena Vista Union School District announces opening(s) for School Social Worker I. The School Social Worker I will be assigned to work under the general direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services and the direct supervision of the Director of Student Support Services.
DESCRIPTION
The School Social Worker I will provide a full range of positive behavioral intervention and supports to students with pervasive social, emotional and behavioral difficulties including assessment, crisis intervention, counseling, case management, school based wraparound services, information and referral and community linkages.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Provides comprehensive research informed social, emotional, behavioral and mental health intervention and supports to reduce the intensity, frequency, and/or complexity of difficult behaviors in identified students.
  2. Prepare and report on Biopsychosocial Assessments.
  3. Provide evidence-based individual, group and family services at various locations within the district.
  4. Provide case management to help assist families with information and referrals to community resources to address student and family needs.
  5. Develop measurable outcomes, data tracking and progress monitoring tools.
  6. Provides psycho-education on topics that include mental health, trauma awareness, social skills, conflict mediation, restorative practices, grief, suicide prevention, and other social emotional subjects that impact learning.
  7. Promote parent engagement in the educational process.
  8. Facilitates professional development that addresses barriers to learning and methods to restore and maintain a safe learning environment for all students.
  9. Provide staff with essential information to better understand factors (cultural, societal, economic, familial, health, etc.) affecting a student's educational performance and behavior.
  10. Collaborates with teachers and school staff providing consultation to develop strategies for classroom management and positive behavior support planning and implementation.
  11. Participates in multi-disciplinary teams including Student Success Teams, MTSS and PBIS.
  12. Conduct home visits as needed.
  13. Assesses and reports child abuse, elder abuse, suicide and threats to harm others.
  14. Complete required charting, documentation and billing for services in a timely manner.
  15. Maintain compliance to professional standards to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  16. Willingness and ability to serve as a field instructor or preceptor for social work interns.
  17. Adherence to the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) code of ethics and core values.
  18. Perform other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  1. An earned Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited college or university accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
  2. Possession of a Pupil Personnel Services Credential authorizing services as a School Social Worker (required within one year of employment).
  3. Must possess intern registration as an Associate Clinical Social Worker (ACSW) with the Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS).
  4. At least one-year full-time experience in providing case management, mental health services, and counseling with children under the supervision of a Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) approved supervisor.
  5. Experience in developing treatment plans, providing direct individual and group services, monitoring progress with data, and knowledge of appropriate documentation for medical billing purposes.
  6. Willingness to conduct home visits and provide services to families in the home setting.
  7. Understanding of the physical, intellectual, social, and emotional growth patterns of students.
  8. Appropriate manner including poise, tact, good judgment, and ability to work effectively with District personnel, community representatives, parents, and students.
  9. Willingness and ability to complete district provided 20 hour ProAct Crisis Intervention Training within the first 90 days of hire.
  10. Possession of a valid California driver's license and personal automobile for use on district business.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Possession of the following valid California licenses/credentials: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
  2. One year of experience working in school settings
  3. Familiarity with Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS).
  4. Doctorate in related field

SALARY AND TERMS OF SERVICE
The salary range for the School Social Worker I is $94,206 - $114,204, (9) steps, 204 working days per year, eight (8) hours per day. Placement on the salary schedule is determined by the number of years of related experience. $2000/year stipend for Doctorate Degree. Position to be renewed annually contingent upon availability of program funds. The District currently contributes $19,793.00 per year to family dental, medical, and vision insurance plans and a life insurance plan for employee only.
