Position Description
The School Social Worker has the primary responsibility for achieving the mission of De Marillac Academy through supporting the personal, social emotional growth of students and accompanying families through their 15 years with the organization, including the 4th-8th grade Academy and Graduate Support programs. This is a 12 month role, reporting directly to the Principal, and demands a close working relationship with the Principal, Assistant Principal, other Directors, faculty, staff, students, families, and the community at large.
Scope of Work
Oversee Counseling Program
In partnership with the school counselor and the administrative team, oversee, develop and provide proactive preventative social emotional education and counseling services to students, and additional training to faculty, staff, and families. Supervise counseling staff, including interns.
Services
In conjunction with the Academic Resource Specialist, facilitate Individual Support Plan (ISP) meetings, including accessing the translation team as needed; Provide direct counseling services; Mobilizing family, school, and community resources to enable the child to learn as effectively as possible in his or her educational program; Connect families to community resources to support the wellbeing of student; Assist in developing positive behavioral intervention strategies; Work with families to facilitate their support in student learning.
Leadership
Educate the De Marillac community on resources available and current research regarding mental health and learning; Implement professional development for faculty and staff; Collaborate to design and maintain a crisis response plan for the school; Communicate with the school administration regarding counseling needs, areas of legal/safety concern, and other issues that require attention.
Other
Familiarize oneself with De Marillac and Tenderloin communities; Familiarize oneself with the charisms of De La Salle Christian Brothers and the Daughters of Charity; Accept additional responsibilities as directed by the Principal or President.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
Master’s degree in Social Work, School Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy or equivalent field
Fluent in Spanish and English (writing, reading & speaking)
LCSW, MFT, or CA PPS Credential in School Social Work
Minimum 5 years of experience working in a related field
Proven experience in data-driven decision making
Qualified to clinically supervise MFT or MSW interns a plus
Related work experience with youth and families a plus

Proven success in managing and maintaining collegial and professional relationships;
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, G-Suite, Salesforce, Siras, and social media platforms;

Enthusiastic and resourceful, with an interest in participating in a fun, engaging and humor rich work environment.
Some evening and weekend responsibilities.
Comfort working in the Tenderloin neighborhood and with diverse communities;

Compensation and Benefits
$85,000 - $105,000 depending on qualifications and experience. A comprehensive benefits package will be provided.

In partnership with families and community, through an all-scholarship 4th-8th grade Academy and Graduate Support Program, we accompany our students through middle school, high school and into early adulthood, as they develop a strong sense of self, purpose, and service to others.
De Marillac Academy opened in 2001 as an independent, Lasallian Vincentian Catholic school with a class of nineteen sixth graders. Today De Marillac serves 106 fourth through eighth grade students, 300 alumni through the Graduate Support Program, and 277 school families.
