QUALIFICATIONS:
Masters Degree in social work.
Michigan approval in School Social work.
Preferred minimum of two years paid experience in school-based social work required.
Social Work Registration; Michigan or National Certification through NASW - ACSW.Experience with special populations, behavioral intervention strategies, and positive behavior supports.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board or Director may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Superintendent - Glenn Public School
JOB GOAL: To help students resolve such personal, emotional, and social problems that interfere with their adjustment to school and their capacity to gain the fullest benefits from their educational programs.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Provide therapeutic intervention services to students certified as emotionally impaired, otherwise health impaired, and at-risk students.
Provide support and intervention services to families of students certified as emotionally impaired, otherwise health impaired, and at-risk students.
Provide special education services mandated by the State of Michigan requiring School Social work evaluation.
Provide Consultation to teachers, administrators, and other professionals, in implementing, procedures related to the educational, social, and emotional needs of students.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide special education services including comprehensive diagnostic evaluations, report writing, interpreting and presenting results at IEP meetings, and goal writing.
Provide counseling services to students certified as emotionally impaired, OHI, and at-risk students in all buildings.
Provide consultation and support to teachers, parents, and administrators regarding students identified or suspected of having an emotional impairment.
Serve on Glenn Public School Autism Spectrum Disorder Diagnostic team and complete requested evaluations.
Participate in Professional Development regularly.
Serve as liaison with outside agencies such as Community Mental Health, FIA, Protective Services, and the Juvenile Court.
Serve as a consultant for behavior plan meetings as both the middle school and high school.
Serve as a leader in the formulation of positive behavior support systems in the school.
Lead District Crisis Response team.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is an independent contract position for approximately twenty-five days per school year as needed.
