Primary Purpose:
Under general supervision, provide and maintain a safe and secure environment for staff, students, and visitors. Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED
Clear and valid Texas driver's license
DPS 3 Certification Training
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Handgun proficiency qualification
Demonstrated ability to perform responsibilities with minimum supervision
Demonstrated knowledge of relevant security equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective School Security operations for protecting people, data, and property
Demonstrated ability to deal sensitively and fairly with people from diverse cultural backgrounds
Demonstrated ability to interface effectively (written/verbal) with students, parents, and all levels of district personnel
Demonstrated ability to maintain the confidentiality of information
Demonstrated organizational, prioritization, communication, and interpersonal skills required to achieve the goals of the position
Must be computer literate and/or willing to attend training sessions
General knowledge of criminal investigation, police report writing, and criminal laws
Training and ability to subdue offenders, including use of firearms and handcuffs
Bonded as required by Texas Education Code §37.081(h)
Ability to pass required physical, psychiatric, and drug tests
Ability to work well with youth and adults
Must successfully complete required training(s)
Experience:
Experience working with youth preferred
Background in law enforcement or related work experience
10 years law enforcement experience preferred
Current or former licensed peace officer Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provide and maintain a safe and secure environment of students, staff, and visitors.
- Carry a firearm at all times while on campus or at campus-related activities, according to Cleburne ISD policy.
- Maintain security of school building and property, including but not limited to continuous inspection of interior and exterior doors throughout the school day.
- Maintain high visibility throughout the school day.
- Work cooperatively with local law enforcement agencies.
- Identify unusual or unsafe conditions and take immediate action as appropriate.
- Perform other job related duties as assigned by supervisor(s) related to campus safety and security.
None Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Tools/Equipment Used: Firearms, handcuffs, security equipment, two-way radio, alarm system and other security equipment, fire extinguisher, and standard office equipment including computer and peripherals
Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing
Motion: Strenuous walking and climbing; frequent keyboarding/mouse, prolonged driving
Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (15-44 pounds)
Environment: Work inside and outside (moderate exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather), moderate exposure to noise
Other: Specific hearing and visual requirements; may be subject to adverse and hazardous working conditions including violent and armed confrontations; ability to control sudden violent or extreme physical acts of others and exhibit rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously
Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; prolonged hours
