Primary Purpose: Ensure a high degree of safety and security for students, staff, families, community, and district property by monitoring and patrolling campus grounds and buildings.  
QUALIFICATIONS:
 REQUIRED:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Three (3) years of experience in security or related field
• Valid Texas Class C driver license and prove insurability to operate district vehicles

 
  PREFERRED:

• Security experience in a school district or education environment
• Previous dispatch experience

 
  SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

• Aptitude for successful completion of assigned tasks
• Ability to work under pressure in emergencies
• Ability to communicate via short-wave radio with Security Officers, administrative staff and local law enforcement
• Basic knowledge of security processes and procedures
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating system
• Ability to work within a diverse culture
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to multitask with different, sometimes conflicting events happening simultaneously
• Ability to work under stress and remain calm, while calming others during rapidly changing circumstances
• Ability to relay information in a fast-paced environment

• Receive emergency and non-emergency calls and record significant information
• Address problems and requests by transmitting information or providing solutions
• Prioritize calls according to urgency and importance
• Use radio, phone, or computer to send crews, Security Officers, or other units to appropriate locations
• Enter data into the computer system and maintain logs and records of calls, activities, or other information

  Major Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Monitor all properties, alarms and telephone systems on a continual basis.
2. Monitor security related dispatching system on a continual basis
3. Work closely with staff, students, families, community members and local law enforcement to provide assistance as needed.
4. Provide asset protection by patrolling school property, including physical property checks as needed, and monitoring premises for the presence of non-district persons.
5. Manage security needs to include emergency management matters.
6. Provide metal detection and site-based security for athletic and other district events.
7. Provide emergency management training for students and staff; assist with campus drills and exercises as requested by campus staff.
8. Use the department software to log all activities.
9. Maintain and clean district vehicle for each shift.
10. Maintain professional standards of conduct in dealing with students, staff and community guests.
11. Practice high standards of safety at all times.
12. Assist with any security issues as directed by the director of security.
13. Required to perform shift work and/or overtime, which will include evenings, nights, days, weekends and/or holidays, sometimes with little to no notice
14. Perform other duties as assigned.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment such as personal computers, desk/cellular phone, copier/fax machine and others. Tools and equipment such as school district vehicles, radio communication equipment, mobile phones and safety equipment. Duty uniform.
Posture: Ability to stand and sit for prolonged periods of time; ability to climb a ladder and the ability to kneel or crawl.
Motion: Prolonged sitting, walking, potential for running, climbing stairs, twisting, reaching, pushing/pulling and overhead reaching.
Lifting: Lifting up to 50 pounds on a regular basis and light carry under 50 pounds on a regular basis. Environment: Exposure to temperature extremes, exposure to humidity extremes, exposure to noise, exposure to low or intense illumination, exposure to vibration, exposure to biological hazards, exposure to chemical hazards, electrical hazards, working outside, prolonged exposure to sunlight, work on slippery or uneven surfaces, working alone, working a flexible schedule with little or no notice of shift change and working prolonged or irregular hours.
