School District 103 is seeking an individual to function as a member of the total educational team, under the supervision of a certified School Psychologist, with specialized knowledge and skills related to problem solving, systems development and management for RtI, techniques of assessment of learning and social adjustment, research design, and modification of behaviors.
Job Responsibilities:
- Completes the Intern Preparation Program with all competencies attained.
- Consults with teachers, administrators, student service workers, parents, and other appropriate personnel regarding specific cases, as assigned by the supervising School Psychologist. (PST, in-service, referrals).
- Uses assessment methods, instruments and techniques to measure, understand, develop, and track the results of intervention plans for academic learning and behavior in the school.
- Produces timely, professionally written reports and other school intervention documents reflecting the results of the above actions to be used by school and staff personnel in designing intervention plans or individualized plans for students as needed.
- If assigned, counsels using psychological principles and techniques for the purpose of improving communications, socialization, adjustment, adaptation, and achievement on a short-term basis.
- Uses effective consultation and behavior intervention principles to aid teachers or parents with individual child and/or group behavior management.
- Attends and conducts in-service meetings and conferences to develop professional attitudes and skills.
- Academic and behavioral screening.
- Standardized assessment (cognitive, academic, and social-emotional initial and re-evaluations as well as specialized assessment for low-incidence/self-contained populations)
- Report writing and preparation/completion of IEP paperwork
- Complete case study evaluations and facilitate eligibility/entitlement determinations
- Facilitate IEP domain meetings and maintain compliance for (re)-evaluations
- Provide therapeutic intervention/counseling for students with social/emotional/behavioral needs
- Social skills intervention/training (using social cognitive or behavioral methods based on students' abilities)
- Academic support (consultation to develop interventions and monitor effectiveness)
- Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) development
- 504 Plan Eligibility and Development
- Various data management and research opportunities
- Ability to work well with others
- Demonstrate mastery of school psychology coursework
- Developing consultation skills for conferencing with teachers, parents, and students
- Possess the organization and time management skills needed to handle multiple responsibilities
- Aware of own limitations and seeks guidance when needed
- Comfortable working independently once an activity has been adequately explained/supervised
- Assists in communication with the parents regarding programs and services available to meet the general needs of students.

Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a program of School Psychology, graduating with at least a Master's degree and leading to a Professional Educator License with a SPSY endorsement.
- Recommended by supervising university to be a School Psychologist Intern.
- Must satisfy all state requirements prior to starting internship.
WorkEnvironment:
The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 20% sitting, 40% walking, and 40% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
