School Physical Therapist
Location: Oakland, CA

Pay: $60+/hour
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated School Physical Therapist to join our team in Oakland, CA. The School Physical Therapist will play a crucial role in supporting students with physical disabilities or injuries, helping them achieve their full potential in the school environment. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a deep understanding of pediatric physical therapy, and a commitment to enhancing the lives of students through personalized therapeutic interventions.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments of students' physical abilities and limitations to develop individualized treatment plans.
- Provide evidence-based physical therapy interventions to students with diverse needs, including motor delays, orthopedic conditions, and neurological disorders.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school staff members to create a supportive and inclusive educational environment for students.
- Monitor and document students' progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Offer guidance and training to teachers and other school staff on strategies to support students' physical needs within the classroom setting.
- Advocate for students' needs and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care and support.
- Stay updated on the latest developments in pediatric physical therapy and integrate innovative approaches into practice.
- Participate in individualized education program (IEP) meetings and contribute expertise to the development and review of students' educational plans.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of therapy sessions, assessments, and progress reports.
Qualifications:
- Master's or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution.
- Valid California state license to practice as a Physical Therapist.
- Pediatric physical therapy experience, preferably in a school or educational setting.
- Strong understanding of various physical therapy techniques and their application to pediatric populations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, teachers, and other professionals.
- Compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach when working with children and adolescents.
- Knowledge of special education laws and regulations, including IDEA and ADA, is preferred.
- Ability to adapt to the unique challenges and opportunities presented in a school-based physical therapy environment.
