Description:Solterra Academy provides comprehensive special education for students aged 5 to 22 requiring intensive intervention due to severe emotional, behavioral, cognitive, developmental, and/or learning challenges. As a Licensed School Nurse (RN), you'll collaborate with a team to establish and maintain a comprehensive school health office. This includes providing direct care to students, ensuring compliance with state requirements, implementing infection control measures, and monitoring medication administration. This is an Exempt, Full-Time position (approximate hours 7:30-4:00).
Responsibilities:
- Assess and address student health needs using the medical plan of care and nursing process.
- Interpret, implement, and communicate health policies to school personnel, parents, and community agencies.
- Ensure compliance with immunization and health physical requirements.
- Assist the School Psychiatrist in monitoring student responses to psychotropic medications.
- Order laboratory and EKG procedures.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive health records for all enrolled students.
- Forward health records when students transition from Solterra Academy.

Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; Bachelor's Degree preferred. Two to three years of pediatric nursing experience, including school and psychiatric nursing; knowledge of the needs of students with disabilities is desirable.
- Current Department of Public Health licensure required as an RN. Certification as a School Nurse by the State Department of Education is preferred.
- If RN, must have worked full time for at least 1 year in the past 5 years as an RN.
- CPR certification is required within 90 days of hire (training provided by Solterra Academy).
- Certification in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention is required, with the first training course provided after the hire date (training provided by Solterra Academy).
