We are seeking a dedicated School Nurse to provide comprehensive health services to students during school hours. In this role, you will play a vital role in addressing students' health needs, collaborating with school staff, parents, and healthcare providers, and promoting a healthy school environment.
Responsibilities:
- Consult with students, school staff, parents and physicians concerning student health concerns, as authorized
- Keep accurate records, test, reports, etc. as required by Delaware Statutes and policies, Federal Regulations, and School Board Policy
- Establish and maintain good rapport and communication with students, school personnel, parents, and community
- Participate as the health care professional at student service meetings
- Participate in staff development activities to prevent and control contagious diseases, increase knowledge and enhance the quality of nursing care
- Assist in the surveillance, detection of illnesses
- Work collaboratively with health care providers, students’ parents, school district staff and community agencies to ensure access and continuity of care for students
- Assist in the establishment and maintenance of a comprehensive school health program Collect information about the health development status of students for compliance with state immunization regulations and Board of Education policies
- Conduct school programs of immunization, physical examinations, and sight and hearing testing
- Evaluate nursing care provided and changes plan of care as necessary
Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Delaware.
- Experience in pediatric or school nursing preferred.
- Strong assessment, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Knowledge of Delaware Statutes, Federal Regulations, and School Board Policy related to school health services.
