SalaryOverview:
The School Nurse works closely with the Student Supports team to (1) treat student injuries or illnesses, (2) advise students, parents/guardians, and staff on health issues, (3) support students with chronic illnesses or disabilities, and (4) track data from visits.

Circle City Prep is an elementary school built on research and best practices of high performing charter schools nationwide and is uniquely focused on educating students on the Far Eastside of Indianapolis. We are heading into our 8th year as an organization, adding a 8th grade.
Job Responsibilities:
As the School Nurse you will:
- Provide basic healthcare and triaging to students in case of injury or acute illness
- Administer and keep accurate inventory o f student medications
- Develop individual health plans (IHPs) and emergency action plans (EAPs) for students with chronic illnesses and disabilities
- Collaborate with physicians and healthcare professionals to aid in creation of IHPs and EAPs
- Educate students and actively engage in health promotion for the school, such as proper nutrition and hygiene
- Schedule state mandated screenings (vision and hearing) with the County Health Department and Mobile Dentist as well as schedule yearly visits with a mobile dentist
- Maintain and update students’ vaccination records
- Update students’ medical history
- Maintain accurate clinical records
- Ensure school environment is safe for children and school staff (e.g. prevention of communicable diseases)
- Refer students to a higher level of care, as appropriate
- Act in accordance with national, state, and local health laws
- Guide clinic practice in accordance with the Indiana School Nurse Manual
- Be onsite 7:30am - 12:30pm daily when school is in session as well as up to 8 inservice days.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
To be considered as a School Nurse, you must:
- Knowledge of and willingness to collaborate with community agencies to help students and their families.
- Knowledge of district policies and procedures.
- Registered nurse (RN) certification required (or higher)
- Current Indiana nursing license required.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Prolonged periods of standing, reaching, and bending.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Pass a criminal background check, as required by law.
