PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
The SBCH (School Based Child Health)Medicaid Coordinator performs and enhances the operational efficiency of day-to-day operations related to State and Federal regulatory guidelines per Individualized Educational Program (IEP) recommended related special education services to students eligible for billing through the SBCH program. The SBCH Medicaid/Student Based Coordinator develops, improves, and implements local processes and procedures relative to Medicaid billing and reimbursements, ensuring that all rules and regulations are followed and audit ready for City, State, and Federal auditing purposes. The SBCH Medicaid/Student Based Coordinator will manage and monitor the Special Education Student Database that tracks special education students.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Cooridnate the entire Medicaid billing project with primary responsibility for educating and maintaining quality control for clients over both administrative and clinical staff including Related Service school staff for in district, out of district, charter, and magnet schools along with applicable State agencies.
- Responsible for the implementation, coordination, and management of the Special Education Student Database.
- Facilitate the information needed to comply with mandated special education State reports (Excess Cost), SBCH Quarterly Snapshots, Quarterly Administrative Cost Reports, Annual Cost Reports, and Random Moment Time Study reports.
- Provide and coordinate training to site-based staff on the Special Education information management process requirements, and the web-based Special Education Application.
- Responsible for providing technical and computer support for Special Education, Support and Related Services staff and Administrators.
- Monitors student demographics and mobility data to ensure maximized SBCH reimbursement revenue.
- Conducts In-Services and training for Related Services staff related in both small/large groups and/or as hired throughout the year.
- Monitors caseloads of Related Service providers who service students with an IEP recommending Related Services to ensure documentation is in place to seek reimbursement.
- Maintains and reports income data and receipt of Monthly Summary Sheet and payment schedule from Department of Social Services (DSS) including monitoring of monthly/bi-monthly Remittance Advices and rejections.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technologies, Education, Finance, or other related area or in lieu of degree 10 years’ experience in related field.
- Understanding of Laws and Regulations at the State and Federal level as it relates to Medicaid, School Based Child Health, and State reporting.
- Ability to work independently and cooperatively with school-based special education and central office staff.
- Experience in use of a variety of applications. (i.e., PowerSchool, Frontline, CT SEDS, Easy Track, and any other applicable databases)
- Ability to use technology intentionally and effectively in daily work, to communicate, organize, manage tasks.
- Strong written and verbal skills and ability to successfully train and manage assigned staff.
- Demonstrate an understanding of networking environments and operations.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of central office and school staff to meet deadlines for time sensitive projects.
- Ability to work under stressful situations and within time constraints.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $19.00 per hour
