CHIEF OBJECTIVES OF THIS POSITION
The Scenic Shop Manager will oversee the work of our dedicated shop team and work directly with internal and external stakeholders to plan and execute builds and installs of sets, activations, vignettes, props, objects of art, and environments that enhance the quality of work for which we are known. While the pace of the work is faster than average, our quality is never compromised.
The Scenic Shop Managerwill maintain a positive attitude that promotes collaborative and imaginative teamwork within the Company and a favorable image of the Company. They will be proactive, and competitive, possess a high personal drive, be comfortable with meeting deadlines, and enjoy the opportunity to work on and lead multiple projects simultaneously.
DIRECT REPORTS TO
Director of Production - Creative Services
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Act as a team leader to create a collaborative and optimistic production environment.
- Work with Team Members to ensure all projects are true to the design, installed efficiently, and meet safety requirements.
- Monitor budgets and manage project timelines effectively.
- Interpret and implement drawings, specifications, and directions to inform builds.
- Source and maintain necessary materials, props, and supplies.
- Receive and organize material orders and inventory systems.
- Create, coordinate, and oversee the daily schedule for the Scenic Shop.
- Create and manage accurate Production Schedules tailored to each specific project.
- Lead teams of Scenic Shop technicians to install, paint, and assemble all necessary set pieces.
- Fabricate sets and objects using a variety of techniques, materials, and equipment.
- Oversee maintenance and repair of the Scenic Shop.
Other Duties:
- Ensure compliance with all company and regulatory agency safety policies.
- Hands-on participation in fabrication, installation, and breakdown work may be required from time to time.
- Oversee the upskilling and development of subordinate team members.
- Ability to create and contribute to a structured, organized, and efficient workplace environment.
- Ability to focus on the big picture and quickly make decisions that are well thought out and analyzed.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Required 5+ years’ experience in scenic, carpentry, or related field.
- 2-3 years’ experience Leading small-to-medium-sized groups.
- Ability to read and follow directions, blueprints/schematics, and renderings or sketches.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Excellent listener and communicator (verbal and written)
- Excellent time management and ability to prevent and/or minimize OT.
- Excellent resource management and ability to prevent and/or minimize material waste.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
- Proficiency with the use of all shop equipment and tools
- Ability to multi-task and keep the team focused on critical objectives.
- A strong desire to learn and grow with the company.
- A working knowledge of Google Office Suites
