JOB SUMMARY

The SCADA Manager is responsible for overseeing the SCADA systems, SCADA and automation personnel, and contractors to support various manufacturing, construction, and mining operations. This position will assist with driving the research, piloting, selection, and implementation of key operational technologies that will help accelerate operational performance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Drive project planning, coordination, and management to achieve performance objectives and goals
  • Implement and steward key processes in coordination with Information Technology related to change and configuration management
  • Remotely supervise or support the work of automation/SCADA techs, including training and assistance with adding resources, as required
  • Coordinate, plan, and prioritize with other functional teams to ensure SCADA systems comply and align with corporate objectives
  • Interpret control and P & ID drawings and review associated scope of work needed to specify and complete associated projects
  • Review and recommend automation, control, and electrical designs and architecture
  • Provide supervision and direction for the safe, effective, and efficient remote operations monitoring and control of Dolese's assets
  • Work closely with technical support groups, power users, lead operators, and technicians to improve operations and support the business initiatives
  • Oversee the implementation of SCADA functional development strategy and modifications, as needed
  • Work in conjunction with existing automation standards to enhance the capabilities of SCADA development and system performance
  • Effectively manage day-to-day activities of projects, enhancements, vendors, and SCADA staff consistent with Dolese's vision to achieve superior capability, value, and customer satisfaction
  • Ensure quick response to system issues, demonstrate ability to optimize resources, as well as perform risk/benefit analysis
  • Identify opportunities for applying SCADA to add value to the business and operations
  • Perform all other duties, projects, and activities as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required; STEM field of study preferred
  • At least 8 years of related experience with increased levels of responsibility required
  • At least 5 years of work in the automation field required
  • Experience managing a team of employees and providing direction to contractors to implement automation solutions preferred
  • Experience interfacing with Allen Bradley PLCs, Factory Talk, and Inductive Automation Ignition software preferred; Wonderware or Cygnet experience would also be applicable


Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
  • Knowledge of SCADA Network Architecture
  • Knowledge of various communication protocols to ensure communication with external devices
  • Knowledge of PLCs, instrumentation devices, and analog and digital devices to ensure their compatibility, including making sure standards are being used
  • Knowledge of all major operating systems and environments required for SCADA
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL databases used for SCADA to ensure that data storage and monitoring performance requirements are met
  • Must have broad based, hands on knowledge and experience with various types of automation systems, equipment, and associated software
  • Have a strong familiarity with PLC, RTU, and HMI programming
  • Familiarity auditing within an ERP system
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to communicate complex subject matter with clarity and credibility to a cross functional audience of varied experience and seniority
  • Ability to collaborate, as well as to work independently, balancing competing priorities with a high level of professionalism
  • Proficiency in the use of MS Office products, such as Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Ability to manage and administer with a high degree of autonomy
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license with good driving record
  • Ability to travel to various field locations for work purposes
  • Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as required


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Lift objects repeatedly of various dimensions and up to 50 lbs. of weight frequently
  • Ability to repeatedly climb stairs and climb ladders
  • Ability to repeatedly balance, bend from the trunk, crawl, kneel, push and pull objects
  • Ability to tolerate working in all environmental temperatures and weather conditions
  • Ability to repeatedly reach, squat, and tolerate prolonged standing/walking/sitting
  • Ability to repeatedly walk on uneven surfaces
  • Ability to verbally communicate, hear, and see
