WORK LOCATION: Currently located in Seguin, Texas
SUMMARY
Responsible for the configuration, maintenance, and installation of GBRA SCADA systems, including PLCs, HMIs, and telemetry systems. Additionally, supports the SCADA infrastructure such as the Server Environments, Control Rooms, Server/Client applications, and various software. Analyzes SCADA issues in order to provide solutions for software and hardware irregularities. Extensive experience in industrial controls will be required to perform the tasks associated with this position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop, install, modify, maintain, and troubleshoot SCADA systems software, including PLCs, HMIs, OITs, and third-party applications.
Install, modify, maintain and troubleshoot SCADA systems hardware, including PLC, radio, network and power supply components.
Review and provide comments on project drawings, specifications, and various submittals.
Works with the SCADA Administrator on large scale control systems design, telemetry design, and system updates.
Works with the SCADA Administrator on in-house project design and development.
Develop control structures and automated data processes utilizing Python and Ignition expression languages.
Coordinate with Network and Database Administrators to complete tasks involving SCADA integration with GBRA databases and various networks.
Assist SCADA Administrator with oversight of contractor installations and ensuring GBRA standards are followed.
Understanding of industrial electrical installations to safely identify electrical hazards.
Maintain backups of all system software and programs.
Assists SCADA technicians with complex PLC, HMI, radio, or database issues.
Coordinate tasks/projects with I&E technicians, operations, and IT staff.
Communicate technical subjects to GBRA employees who have little or no background and/or experience in control systems.
Works with SCADA team members on developing standard operating procedures and other technical documentation.
Keep current on changes, trends and developments in the control systems industry.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Electrical Safety knowledge required.
High proficiency in the use of laptop computers, multi-meters, and other calibration equipment.
Ability to install, maintain, and troubleshoot industrial control system components.
Ability to interpret and markup both mechanical and electrical blueprints.
Ability to interpret and develop Python code.
Ability to program from scratch various PLCs utilizing ladder logic, function block diagram, and structured text.
Allen Bradley PLC Product Family and associated software (Studio 5000, Connected Components Workbench, etc.).
Allen Bradley HMI product family and associated software (View Designer, Factory Talk, Panelview).
Allen Bradley Micro 800 family and Control/Compact Logix PLC troubleshooting.
Schneider Electric SCADAPack32 controller troubleshooting and maintenance.
Crimson 3.0-3.1 development, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU (RS232 & RS485) protocols.
Knowledge of advanced control methods (PID loops, flow pacing, sequencing techniques).
Ignition HMI troubleshooting and maintenance.
Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to ever changing operations.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS
Associate's degree in Computer Science, instrumentation, electronics or industrial fields, or Technical Certification from an institution accredited by a national recognized accrediting agency desirable. Combination of experience and education will be considered.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum three years of experience in maintaining and troubleshooting industrial control and SCADA systems. Desired 1 year in a software development or systems integration position.

Persons in this position will travel throughout the 10-county service area. Work is mostly indoors but some outdoor work is required and is performed at electrical power plants, pump stations, lift stations, water distribution sites, and water and wastewater treatment plants. Persons in this position are subject to call at any time and under all weather conditions.
