Job Summary
A sanitation worker is a member of a cleaning crew whose duties are to perform detailed cleaning and sanitizing of food processing equipment, sanitizing of food processing equipment, and cleaning of food processing areas of the SPICE WORLD plant. Our purpose for cleaning the processing areas and equipment, is to meet with Quality Control, FDA and Bacterial Standards outlined by SPICE WORLD Quality Management. Sanitors are required to completely clean and sanitize the food processing areas and equipment quickly and efficiently in a relatively short amount of time. Due to our time constraints, this requires a sanitation worker to work during late evenings/night/early morning shifts. (SPECIFIC SHIFT WILL BE DETERMINED BY SUPERVISION AND MANAGEMENT). Sanitors will be working around small and large processing equipment with chemicals designed for sanitation use. Sanitors must be able to work as a team along with other members of the sanitation crew, under stressful conditions. Sanitors must be flexible and willing to perform various tasks assigned by sanitation leads and supervisor at any given time.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires sitting, standing, bending and reaching. Requires physical lifting (may require lifting in excess of 50 pounds).
Requirements:
- Must be able to understand verbal and visual instructions.
- Must be able to work with industrial food processing chemicals.
- Must be able to work in HOT and COLD environments.
- Must be able to work in dry and wet environments.
- Must be able to work in noisy areas.
- Must be able to work with dust and dirt.
- Must be able to walk or stand for 8+ hours a shift.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, and kneel with repetition during shift.
- Must be able to push and pull 50 pounds.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Must be able to climb stairs.
- Must be able to climb ladders.
- Must be able to wear cold and hot weather PPE.
- Previous food processing sanitation experience (preferred but not required).
- Ability to work independently and efficiently.
- Ability to pay attention to detail.
- Willingness to work 10-hour shifts.
- Willingness to work overtime and /or Saturdays and Sundays.
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Clean and sanitize processing equipment and processing facilities.
- Prevent cross contamination of product, work-in-progress, food contact surfaces and food contact packaging during sanitation procedures.
- Follow all company SSOPs. (Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures)
- Work safely with the chemicals used in the cleaning process.
- Ensure all chemicals are used at proper concentrations.
- Complete all sanitation and required auditing documentation. (If designated to do so)
- Adheres to all company GMPs and Safety policies.
- Perform seasonal grounds duties including general grounds clean up, trash pickup and leaf removal.
- Maintain all sanitation related equipment including but not limited to automatic floor scrubbers, vacuums, foamers, cleaning equipment and tools.
- Assist janitors with their duties as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma/GED: Preferred but not required.
- Documentation of Skills/Training: Preferred but not required.
- Utilize knowledge and requirements of Good Manufacturing Practices.
