POSITION:Sample Services Manager
FLSA Classification: Exempt
GENERAL SCOPE: The Sample Services Manager oversees and provides direction to Sample Lab Supervisor to ensure product quality, timeliness, and safety standards are met, as well as directly manages logistics, R&D quality and project coordination personnel. Interacts with R&D teams, Operations, Shipping and Receiving, Maintenance, Management, and internal and external Auditors/Vendors and others as necessary.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Organize, prioritize, and schedule the daily activities of the Sample Services Department.
- Management of liquid compounding, spray drying, and all technology as assigned by the needs of the sample lab and pilot plant.
- Management of personnel and department activities related to: shipping & receiving, logistics, R&D quality lab, stock management and project coordination.
- Be the point person of communication concerning expected timelines of project completion and/or delays to appropriate parties within the organization
- Help to drive change in automation implementation
- Adhere to inventory, food safety/quality, DOT/IATA, and safety policies
- Ensure compliance with process changes
- Participate in and help drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Provide example of leadership to the Sample Department through demonstrating and expecting compliance with best practices
- Be able to train and provide guidance to technicians, coordinators, supervisor, quality control to enable them to do their jobs effectively
- Identify issues with problem formulas and/or instructions and communicate these to the formulating chemist
- Other duties in support of company objectives

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- IATA/DOT certification preferred
- High School/Some college, Bachelor’s degree preferred or combination of education and experience.
- 2-5 years experience in flavor industry, providing leadership, knowledgeable in liquid compounding, spray drying, and/or capsule production
- Ability to use various software systems such as MS Office Suite: Word, Excel, and other types of process software
