You will encourage taxpayer compliance through education and the administration of tax revenue audits of Sales/Use Tax in South Carolina.
Primary job duties include:
- Review and conduct sales and use tax audits on basic retail businesses, non-retail purchasers, other service providers, end-users, and consumers.
- Research and provide audit documentation to include taxpayer friendly language and all points of issue within the audit.
- Prepare and present audit findings clearly to the taxpayer, their representative, and any interested SCDOR personnel.
- Accurately prepare documents for possible appeals and criminal investigation referrals.
- Provide taxpayer assistance to include answering taxpayer questions in the office or the field.
- Participate in training classes, educational seminars, or other speaking engagements.
A bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with at least 18 hours of accounting and experience in accounting, auditing, finance, insurance, or tax preparation and/or analysis. (Transcripts required.)

- Training: Sales Tax Auditors will participate in a training program to ensure they have the knowledge and skills to successfully perform their job.
- Hours: Flexible hours may be available from 7:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., Monday – Friday (37.5 hours per week).
- Telework schedule: This position may be eligible to work remotely up to two days per week.
