What will you do?
As an Auditor/Examiner 1, you will examine and analyze accounting records to determine the financial condition or compliance with tax code of an assigned organization program.

Bachelor's Degree in business administration or a related field from an accredited college or university

Three years' experience in a related area
Core Duties
• Answers calls from the public and other departmental offices. Assists the taxpayer and other departmental personnel with the status of information received or an active review of the information.
• Issues manual assessments on work that, based on established business rules, have not been issued automatically. Respond to protests within 30 days of receipt. Handles a minimum of 60 manuals and/or protests per month or 720 manuals and/or protests per year. The protests will be generated from computer assisted audits, manual assessments, special projects and other campaigns.
• Maintains applicable knowledge of policies, procedures, tax laws and generally accepted accounting procedures and auditing standards.
• Maintains a working knowledge of all computer related programs and functions necessary to perform the job.
• Duties require high levels of computer research skills, customer service skills, analytical skills, and independent judgment.
This is a hybrid position. This Auditor/Examiner 1 position operates out of the assigned office and have the ability to telework,

For the Auditor / Examiner 1 role, the Georgia Department of Revenue also conducts an MVR Check. Additionally, a criminal background check & state of Georgia tax records check is conducted on all new hires and you are required to have filed a State of Georgia tax return for the past five years.

- The ability to meet the terms and conditions of employment with the Audits Division, including the ability to lift/carry up to 30 lbs.
- Travel is required in-state only
- Proficient in Excel
- Position requires the ability to handle 30% phone work, ie. inbound calls, incoming correspondence from Tax Payers
