What We Are Looking For
We are looking to bring on for credit interns in a variety of role across our publishing house this summer. The interns will take part in a 8 week program which will be structured to include hands on day to day work across our various departments, training workshops, companywide and intern specific events, a group project and opportunities to connect with professionals in the publishing industry in our office in Downtown NYC.
What You’ll Be Doing
The Sales Intern will provide administrative support to the Sales and Subsidiary Rights Department. Projects will include preparing for book fairs, organizing sales materials, and drafting sales pitches to external partners. This internship is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in domestic and international book sales as well as licensing translation, audio, and other subsidiary rights.
Responsibilities Include:
- Prepare for conferences, trade shows, and international book fairs
- Retrieve, verify, and organize title metadata from various internal databases
- Collect materials and organize PowerPoint slides for various account managers
- Research and execute mailing lists for prospective accounts
- Place sample orders, track POs, run inventory reports, and reserve stock
- Verify title rights and enter licensing terms in our rights database
- Draft title submission letters for foreign language, audiobook, large print, and other subsidiary rights partners
Required Skills:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited 2- or 4-year collegiate program
- Able to apply earned credit towards a course or graduation at your specific institution.
- Interested in a hybrid opportunity
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Experience using Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel
- Strong attention to detail
