2024 Undergraduate Summer Intern - Job Posting
Department Title:Undergrad Intern - Global Compliance
Location: This position will be based in New York City, NY. Please note this internship will be on a hybrid basis, with 2 days a week in the office.
Position Summary:
Department Overview:
The Franklin Templeton Global Compliance team provides oversight and guidance to the regulated entities within the organization to ensure they adhere to rules and regulations and internal policies and procedures.
Compliance is a perfect way to get into the finance industry and understand how the business works, and regulatory obligations and rules influence business operations. Additionally, the position will give you the opportunity to interact with Senior Leaders.

By the end of your internship, an intern can expect to learn:
  • Learning the process of compliance with BSA AML regulatory requirements related to KYC (Know Your Client) and Due Diligence.
  • Understand how Compliance closely interacts with Legal, Operations, Technology, Risk, Audit, as well as the Business.
  • Develop good risk mindset, problem solving and/or conflict management.
  • Improve the ability to think rationally and logically and see the bigger picture of an organization.
  • Understand how each individual contributions and roles as team member contributes to promote individual success as that for the company as well.
  • Opportunity to excel interpersonal skills, as it involves a great deal of internal communication with various stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities can Include:
The Compliance Intern will be responsible for supporting the Compliance Department in the completion of various initiatives related to KYC (Know Your Client).
  • Perform due diligence on new and existing clients.
  • Review KYC forms and supporting documentation on imaging system.
  • Participate in KYC and transaction monitoring reviews.
  • Participate in remediation and streamline initiatives.

The Compliance Intern will assist in completion of various compliance projects and initiatives including but not limited to:
  • Perform one-time RDC negative news and PEP screening as part of a lookback project.
  • Review and escalate potential valid alerts to Compliance Officer for review.
  • Document the review and decision-making process.

Ideal Qualifications:
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (both verbally and written)
  • Ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions with limited supervision.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize daily work responsibilities.
  • Ability to trouble-shoot and resolve issues in a timely manner
  • PC proficient (MS office) and extensive knowledge on performing internet searches.
  • At least junior level undergraduate college students
  • Interest in developing a career in compliance on financial industry.
  • An overall cumulative GPA of 3.0

Compensation Range: This is a full-time internship where students will work approximately 35 hours per week and earn competitive hourly pay of $31 USD per hour, depending on location, and year in school. There are several factors taken into consideration in making compensation decisions including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
