Summary:
The primary responsibilities of the Sales Associate position are to maintain outstanding customer service, generate sales, merchandise product, take ownership of assigned departments and support the store management team. Sales Associates are required to contribute to the organization's vast body of skills and expertise to the best of their abilities, while striving to learn more.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Greets all clients and assists in answering questions about merchandise and locating merchandise; Completes all company and departmental paperwork accurately; Receives, opens, and unpacks cartons or crates of merchandise, checking paperwork against items received when required, and replenishes stock when necessary; Displays and maintains merchandise on end caps, shelves, counters or tables following company plan-o-grams; Builds displays when necessary to attract customers and promote sales within specified guidelines by your management team; Performs daily maintenance assignments to ensure proper store recovery and cleanliness; Maintains familiarity with new products and ad merchandise; Understands and emphasizes any current promotions to customers, to promote value; Has sound awareness of surroundings, clients, etc. and practices loss prevention techniques to minimize shoplifting losses; Assists and makes recommendations to clients in the service areas within the store including, but not limited to paint matching/mixing, key and glass cutting, screen repair, knife sharpening, etc.; When prompted, operates cash register by scanning all merchandise, positively engaging the client, proper tendering of each transaction, promoting Rewards Card, and thanking the clients for shopping at Ace Hardware.
Attendance:
A continuous pattern of regular and prompt attendance is required along with the ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.
Skills and Qualifications:
The Sales Associate should have basic computer knowledge. Some hardware experience and/or retail experience is preferred. The Sales Associate must be able to professionally communicate with clients, all members of store management and other store associates. The Sales Associate must complete assigned training when prompted (including, but not limited to: online courses, workshops and on-the-job training).
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to correspond and speak effectively with clients or associates of the organization. Ability to understand and respond to verbal instructions or questions. Bilingual candidates are a plus!
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by a Sales Associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the Sales Associate is regularly required to walk and use hands to handle objects and tools. The employee frequently is required to climb ladders and stand and reach with hands and arms. The Sales Associate is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel or crouch. The associate must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
