The Sales and Use Tax Consultant’s primary responsibilities are to identify Sales and Use tax savings opportunities for multi-state clients. The incumbent will be meeting with clients and/or taxing authorities, preparing correspondence, researching issues, completing data reconciliations, making taxability decisions and preparing tax authority filings. Some travel required (up to 30%).
- Make and Schedule audit/refund tax decisions
- Reviews client data for tax savings opportunities
- Drafts filings, such as petitions for redetermination, refund claims, and various other administrative replies
- Responds to client inquiries and prepares documentation requests from state agencies
- Reconciles tax returns with client data
- Travels to client locations to gather and copy tax returns, invoices, purchase orders, and other documentation to use in audit/refund process
- Other duties as assigned
- Make and schedule tax decisions on invoices
- Completion of sales tax research for client issues in different states
- Bachelor’s Degree required in Accounting/Finance
- Proficient in Access
- Demonstrates knowledge of basic tax research
- Strong Communication Skills
- Ability to analyze raw data to reconcile trial balances and Sales and Use Tax returns
