The Lead Regional Safety Supervisor is a technical position responsible for supporting site implementation of the Workplace Safety System. The Lead Safety Specialist is accountable for providing Workplace Safety technical and regulatory advice, mentoring, guiding, and coaching to site/functional operations. They are responsible for assisting Site Leadership with the following to maintain compliance with all GM Workplace Safety and regulatory requirements.
Job Overview
Leads a team of Safety professionals to support a site in the implementation of Safety processes.
Develops valuable strategic direction that drives successful execution of Global Workplace Safety Strategy Deployment at the site level.
Partners with their peers to share and demonstrate good practices across their team, in support of the site operations leadership, developing and educating direct reports, and other key functions at the site.
Meets with union representatives and works through resolution of issues.
Assists or directs the resolution of government Safety violations or citations.
Requirement to manage, guide, foster & improve 2 salary safety professionals.
Additional Description
- BA/BS degree in safety or related field
- Familiarity with occupational workplace safety processes
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with other site people leaders at various levels
- Demonstrated managerial courage to routinely guide, influence and congruently make decisions with other site people leaders and union representatives about safety
- Demonstrated managerial skill set & professional acumen that is indicative to supporting a site Leader/Director
