SUMMARY
Working under the direction of the Safety Manager, the Safety Specialist will monitor and coordinate construction project site safety and health programs, including safety inspections, accident/injury investigations, and safety training. This role will support the Safety Manager while promoting a culture of safety excellence in all interactions. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Participates in the development and implementation of project site safety programs, including but not limited to fall protection, hazard communication, fire prevention and protection, emergency response planning, and other OSHA safety compliance programs.
· Advises the onsite project staff and subcontractors on safety control measures and procedures to ensure the safety of workers as well as regulatory compliance as mandated by local, state, and federal agencies, including the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
· Performs hazard analyses, creates JSAs, and recommends mitigation procedures to the project site team.
· Conducts routine and follow-up environmental health, safety, and hazard inspections of project sites.
· Respond to emergencies involving hazardous materials, fire, smoke incidents, and other known or unknown hazards; prepare reports of findings and submit recommendations.
· Analyzes accident and incident reports; makes recommendations for correcting unsafe conditions and actions.
· Promotes safety initiatives such as the Good Catch program and weekly safety messages.
· Assists with monitoring and distributing safety materials and inventory.
· Actively participates in the WCMG Safety Committee.
· Communicate clearly and timely across the company; take action to request information necessary to meet customer expectations and internal deadlines.
· Prioritize safety by conducting all work in a safe and efficient manner, complying with all local, state, and federal safety and health regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS
· Minimum of an associate degree in safety-related education and one year of experience directly related to construction safety responsibilities.
· A minimum of 3 years of safety experience in the construction industry may substitute for minimum education.
· Background in trade positions is encouraged.
· Safety designations, including ASP, CHST, OHST, COSM, COSS, and STS-C, are preferred or the ability to be obtained in 1 year.
· Preferred experience in completion of OSHA 510 and OSHA 500.
· Competent person in the areas of fall protection, scaffolding, and trenching.
· Skilled in performing safety inspections, ensuring compliance with OSHA and NFPA standards.
· Ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
· Ability to compile information and prepare reports using a variety of software.
· Develop, implement, and enforce safety programs and protocols.
· Working knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations, protocols, and/or procedures
· Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergencies.
· Conduct investigations, analyze information, and draw conclusions.
· Ability to work effectively with diverse populations in a fast-paced work setting.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
· Regular and consistent attendance is expected and a necessary job function.
· Employee will be required to work a minimum of forty (40) hours per week or as many hours as it may take to perform the duties mentioned above. The schedule may vary based on business demands and could require evening hours and/or weekends.
· Employee is to wear all personal protective equipment (PPE) required while on any Williams Company Management Group (WCMG) construction site, including, but not limited to, a hard hat, high visibility vest, work boots, eye protection, and hearing protection.
· Frequently moving in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments, including tight and confined spaces
· Frequently remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods
· Frequently communicating with others to exchange accurate information.
· Frequently using manual dexterity, including wrists, hands, and fingers, to work with equipment as well as typing.
· Frequently assessing the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned
· Frequently utilizing visual acuity to operate equipment, read technical information, and/or use a keyboard.
· Frequently moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one work site to another.
· Frequently adjusting, lifting, or moving objects up to 50 pounds or more in all directions
· Frequently performing activities such as climbing, balancing, bending, stooping, kneeling, and crawling
· Occasionally working in adverse environmental conditions, such as low or high temperatures, precipitation, and wind
· Occasionally working in hazardous conditions, including noisy environments, small and/or enclosed spaces with poor ventilation
