Job Description
The Safety Officer will be responsible for advising staff on company safety protocols, conducting risk assessments, and enforcing preventative safety measures on our job sites. As a Safety Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors. Your expertise will help us promote a culture of workplace safety compliance, providing training and support within the organization.
Responsibilities
1. Job Site Safety Monitoring:
- Travel to various job sites across the country to monitor compliance with safety regulations and standards.
- Conduct scheduled and impromptu safety audits, indentifying hazards, and executing corrective action.
- Maintain knowledge of current safety regulations and communicate recommended updates to safety department.
2. Documentation Management:
- Compile and report accurate and timely safety records, including incident reports, daily equipment inspections, weekly toolbox talks, and periodic safety audits.
- Prepare safety-related reports and documentation as needed.
- Assist with the implementation of safety manuals, policies, and procedures.
3. Safety Training and Education:
- Implement job or project specific safety training as needed.
- Assist in the routine maintenance of training records and certifications.
- Help monitor training compliance and track training completion.
4. Incident Investigation and Reporting:
- Conduct thorough investigations of incidents, accidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, investigations, and corrective actions taken.
- Analyze incident data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.
5. Safety Compliance and Documentation:
- Stay updated on relevant safety regulations and standards, ensuring compliance with OSHA and other regulatory agencies.
- Maintain safety-related documentation, including safety manuals, policies, and procedures.
- Assist with implementing and maintaining site-specific safety signs and visual aids.
6. Safety Culture Promotion:
- Foster a culture of safety and promote safety awareness throughout the organization.
- Engage employees at all levels to actively participate in safety programs and initiatives.
- Organize and participate in safety committees, meetings, and initiatives.
- Provide guidance and support to supervisors and employees regarding safety best practices.
7. Additional Responsibilities:
- Handle additional responsibilities and projects as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field is a plus).
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in commercial roofing or construction, preferably two years of supervisory experience.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and best practices, including OSHA 30 (required).
- Professional certification in safety (e.g., STST) is preferred.
- Experience conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety audits.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Team player attitude is a must.
- Ability to influence and drive a culture of safety.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to climb a 40-foot ladder and lift heavy objects.
- Willingness to travel as required.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
