AVEC is a member-driven generation and distribution utility serving residents in 59 locations throughout Alaska with its headquarters in Anchorage, AK. The communities that we serves receive power via small, isolated grids that utilize diesel generation and renewable sources.
As a Safety and Regulatory Compliance Officer you will be exposed to many different things. Primarily, you will conduct surveys, audits, inspections, trainings, fuel spill drills, and provide reports to ensure a safe work environment and compliance with safety and environmental regulatory standards. The Safety and Regulatory Compliance Officer will work with management to develop, implement, maintain, and administer all safety programs for the Cooperative. You would also supervise and support personnel performing work with fuel storage, fuel transfers and soil remediation in our remote communities.
The Safety and Regulatory Compliance Officer position will travel up to 50% of the year. While traveling with AVEC, you will get to enjoy world class fishing and hunting during the hours that you aren't working and will get to see parts of Alaska that most Alaskans don't even get to see.
Qualifications
Experience in conducting safety audits, inspections, and developing safety programs.
Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, especially concerning fuel spills and remediation.
Ability to lead and support teams in remote locations, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
Prior experience working in a utility, particularly in remote or challenging environments, preferred.
