Stolt Tank Containers (STC) is a leading provider of door-to-door transportation services for bulk-liquid chemicals and food-grade products. With a fleet of more than 45,000 tank containers, STC is the only operator with its own worldwide network of 22 owned and joint venture depots.
We are currently recruiting for a Safety Manager to join our team.
What you will do
Maintain consistent depot safety and training standards in regard to operational procedures and regulatory compliance for SCTH.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensures that the life safety of all on site personnel remains the highest priority of the operation.
- Support and safeguard all operational activities as a key member of the management team.
- Ensures that all employee training is conducted monthly, or as needed by policy. Provide on-boarding safety orientation and training. Manage and retain all training and safety related records. Ensure necessary safety equipment is available and provided with training, and in use.
- Work directly with customers on site safety audits
- Ensures that contractor orientations are conducted and reviews and approves contractor safety plans and insurance records. (when applicable). Reviews contractor safety performance and addresses performance issues when required.
- Ensures that safety incidents are investigated and that corrective actions are implemented. Handles all communication with Human Resources regarding any employee incidents. Conducts periodic reviews of incident trends and effectiveness of safety performance and makes recommendations to improve safety performance.
- Stay up-to-date on OSHA regulations and implement changes as needed. Keeps management informed of pending changes and cost implications.
- Continually evaluate product handling safety guidelines, operating procedures and industrial hygiene data and recommend ways to reduce employee exposures.
- Manage the site safety policy and procedures. Support STC global safety policies and compliance.
- Responsible for site security. Manage 3rd party security service.
- Ensure safe storage of hazardous materials and compliance with relevant regulations. Provide safety assessment for product inquiries.
- Respond to security threats.
- Act as "Incident Commander" for any accident or incidents.
- Carry out any other task as required by management.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in safety-related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 10+ years' experience in safety and compliance.
- Demonstrated experience with safety management (I.e., Incident Command, Accident Investigation with Corrective Action, First
- Aid, Industrial Hygiene.
- Experience in design and implementation of training programs, including instruction of training classes for large groups.
- Experience in developing operational and safety procedures.
- Experience working with government agencies; local, state, and federal.
- Experience with project management.
- Experience with budgeting and financial responsibilities in a corporate environment are a plus.
Specific Skills
- Strong skills in communication, problem solving, facilitation, planning, and leadership.
- Ability to perform hazard analysis, risk assessments, and audits of process safety and risk management programs.
- Ability to support employee recruitment activities by conducting interviews and providing recommendations to management.
- Familiarity with a variety of process safety and qualitative and quantitative risk assessment techniques.
- Knowledge of plant and EHS operations and their interaction in Process Safety.
- Safety and compliance related certifications
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office products.
