Safety Expectations
Spartan Companies, LLC desires to maintain a strong and effective safety culture. At a minimum it is expected that each employee will understand and effectively utilize Stop Work Authority, comply with all applicable safety rules, regulations, and policies, report all incidents (no matter how minor) immediately, participate in Job Safety Analysis discussions, submit weekly safety observations, and express gratitude when others prevent you from performing unsafe behaviors or work activities.
Description
Safety Support
One of the most important tasks of a Safety Coordinator is to assist the Safety Director in all job functions laid out by each. Anything the Safety Director requests should take priority over your day-to-day tasks outlined below.
As Safety Coordinator, you are also responsible to report on job interface between the field. You should always have a good understanding of projects and needs of the field.
This job has a wide range of work situations. Duties are performed independently with minimal supervision. The complexity of this job is high with high attention to detail, organization and knowledge of all construction activities is essential. Some decisions are made from established well-known procedures, while others require the incumbent to determine their own practices and procedures. Errors in judgment could affect the company, project owners and employees.
The Safety Coordinator helps support the Safety activities of Spartan Companies, through proactive involvement in the implementation of safety programs / Fleet Program, providing recommendations for improvement and the prevention or correction of unsafe conditions or behaviors in the workplace.
Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to these essential tasks and are subject to change by the employer as needs arise in the company.
- Provide daily field and administrative safety support and leadership to assigned projects.
- Provide daily support and instruction to supervisory teams resulting in an integrated approach to safe operations and compliance with Spartan/Client HSE standards along with all local/federal regulations.
- Develop, implement, and support health and safety strategies, systems, policies, and procedures.
- Conduct periodic audits of potentially hazardous work areas, process operations, work practices, and procedures.
- Support and facilitate employee involvement in safety processes.
- Facilitate and/or participate in incident investigations and root causes. Ensure completion of investigation of severe incidents and injuries and cooperate in the preparation of material and evidence for the organization’s use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations as needed.
- Verify work permits have been completed properly and the correct permits are in place for the activity to be performed.
- Promote daily health & safety awareness, accountability and responsibility through safety meetings, communications, mentoring, coaching and training efforts.
- Represent the organization in customer, community or industry safety groups and programs.
- Work closely with other service providers to ensure safe collaborative working conditions.
Basic Qualifications
· Positive attitude and desire to actively contribute to the continual improvement of our safety culture
MUST BE Bilingual - Spanish and English
May be involved with Fleet and Training activities/responsibilities.
· Effective organization, training, and planning skills.
· Ability to interact, instruct and communicate effectively at all levels and across cultural boundaries
- Ability to learn, understand and follow instructions precisely.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
· Demonstrated ability to use standard office software programs, Microsoft suite, including spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and audiovisual presentations
· Proficiency with Mobile Technologies (e.g. smart phones, tablets)
- 4 years' applicable work experience in Oil and Gas industry
- OSHA 30 certified
· Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred

- Perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, standing, and walking significant distances.
- Visual ability (uncorrected or corrected) to observe and detect signs of dangerous obstacles at a distance of 30 yards and to verify written information at a close range.
- Work may be performed in extreme temperature ranges (-40 to 125 degrees Fahrenheit).
