Position Summary
Manage, plan, and coordinate the work of staff responsible for performing a variety of safety activities within an assigned area of responsibility. Oversee and coordinate Airport safety and training. Develop, manage, oversee and maintain the Airport Safety Management System (SMS) program; ensure compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) program requirements. Manage, develop, coordinate, and implement Emergency Management Plans and trainings in compliance with FAA and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requirements. Perform a variety of highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Aviation Director and Aviation Deputy Director
This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug/alcohol testing.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements
Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public administration, aviation safety, or Emergency Management; and
Six (6) years experience in any of the following areas: airport or airline safety, safety management systems, emergency preparedness, safety education, risk management/loss prevention; and
To include three (3) years of supervisory experience.
Possessions of American Associate of Airport Executive Certified Membership preferred.
Airport Certified Employee Operations preferred.
Safety Management certification preferred.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
Possession of a valid Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Professional Development certification within one (1) year from date of hire.
Must be able to successfully qualify for and maintain a Sunport Access Control Card as determined by the criteria set forth by the policies and guidelines of the Aviation Department and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
Successful completion of a security background check conducted by U.S. Customs & Border Protection, if applicable.
