Safety and Security Manager (Full-Time)
Circuit of The Americas (COTA) is a 365-entertainment destination for world-class events
located in Austin, TX. The sports and entertainment portfolio at COTA is unmatched in the
country with Formula 1 US Grand Prix, NASCAR and MotoGP attracting global fans during
championship races on the famed Circuit and Live Nation producing over 30 headline concerts
every year at the Germania Insurance Amphitheater.
Job Description:
The major job function for this position is to work and facility and event Safety and Security
programs. This position will work collaboratively with federal and local government
organizations, contracted vendors, and staff to support and fulfill COTA’s Safety and Security
programs for all events that take place at COTA. This position reports directly to the Director
of Safety and Security.
Requirements:Essential Functions:
Safety
- Maintain relationships between COTA and various government organizations from the federal to local level.
- Collaborate with Event managers to assist with event planning including review, submit, and manage ACE applications.
- Manage the permitting process for all events including Temporary structures, private lofts, fueling operations, hazardous materials, etc.
- Ensure all events maintain compliance with all local codes and regulations, including review of the CAD maps and overall event design and layout.
- Assist Incident Command for all public events which includes Coordination between public Safety and venue operations, maintenance and distribution Emergency Action Plans for all public events and assisting 3rd Party events with their own.
- Assist with Maintaining and implementing various types of staff training programs including: EAPs, Active Shooter, CPR, Stop the Bleed, equipment training (forklifts, scooters, etc.)
- Maintain the COTA fuel station including city and state compliance throughout the year, staff fuel accounts, records of fuel use for all accounts, provide accounting with 3rd party fuel usage for billing.
- Assist with worker’s compensation for the Company including reporting claims, ensuring employee treatment, and return to work procedures.
- Maintain on site radio infrastructure including repairs, allocations for departments, determine needs for major events.
Security
Daily oversight of contracted security staffing agency to ensure a successful facility security program including hiring practices, staff retention, officer training, shift schedules, post orders, daily venue activity schedule, video surveillance system, incident documentation and customer assistance.
- Supervision and management of 24-hour security vendor, as well as tunnel guard shack employees and when applicable
- Develop and deliver written documentation pertaining to security plans for large, small, and normal day to day operations of the facility.
- Assist in developing budgets for facility security requirements. Creating PO requests and acquiring approvals for purchases
- Manage a comprehensive hiring and training program for all security disciplines in the paddock and consumer areas.
- Maintain security operations and management procedures according to BEO’s when applicable.
- Provide training, as required, for COTA security requirements.
- Handle any escalated issues or emergency situations appropriately.
- Responsible for Accident Reports and assistance with Risk Management
- Maintain accurate records and provide timely activity reports; Create and deliver event based after-action reports.
- Assign, allocate and track all key distribution for Staff and Contractors
- Track, review and maintain security systems including cameras, gates, doors, locks, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Education
- Required: FEMA ICS 100,200,700, OSHA 10 Hour General Industry
- DESIRED: FEMA ICS 800, OSHA 30 Hour General Industry
Experience
- 2-3 years Event or Multipurpose Facility Security Experience
- 2 years Supervisory Security
- Experience in Public Safety operations
Physical Demand & Work Environments:
- Ability to stand, sit, use of hands to handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms.
- Ability to lift and/ or move up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to squat, bend, twist, push/pull.
- Ability to stand/walk for long periods.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
- Work in extreme environments outdoors throughout the year.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud during events.
