Job Description
Plans, directs, and supervises the activities of the Safety and Security Department to provide maximum Safety And Security for students, staff, center property and the surrounding community.
- Develop and monitor staff schedules for 24-hour, 7 day a week coverage.
- Develop and maintain Center Safety Plan, and Emergency and Disaster Plan (and weather-related Evacuation Plan) and conduct the yearly risk assessment survey.
- Establishes and communicates safety, security, and fire prevention policies with pertinent center and DOL regulations to students and staff.
- Provide records and reports of department activities upon request by management, insurance underwriters, DOL, and corporate office.
- Serves as the center’s representative and maintains effective liaison with law enforcement agencies in the community.
- Responsible for monitoring all center facilities to ensure compliance with OSHA Standards.
- Conducts PRH required training with center staff.
- Ensures Officers assigned to shift arrive on time and are appropriately dressed.
- Reviews logbooks and incident reports for timeliness and accuracy
- Conduct weekly center walk-though and inspections.
- Attend all safety committee meetings.
- Monitor and engage in investigations; report all findings to the Center Director or designee.
- Assesses personnel needs and works with the Human Resources department to screen and interview potential staff. Recommends promotions, transfers, and merit evaluations within the department. Conducts and prepares performance appraisals.
- Clearly communicates and consistently models appropriate CSS and employability skills.
- Maintains accountability of staff, students, and property.
- Adheres to safety practices in all areas of responsibility.
- Fosters and sustains a conducive environment at the center, ensuring it remains free from harassment, intimidation, and disrespect, thereby ensuring a safe space for both staff and students to engage in work and learning.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university preferred; High School Diploma or equivalency required.
- Three to five years related experience required.
- One to two years of supervisory experience.
- Experience working with diverse population of youth.
- A valid driver’s license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record.
