JOB SUMMARY
The Roll off Systems Manager is responsible for managing the Austin Roll-Off Drivers and Austin Bergstrom International Airport (ABIA) Operations Technicians, as well as providing drivers for our on-site hauling requests. This position’s responsibilities include managing the Austin routes, resources, and drivers and assisting and supporting operations managers at remote locations with any additional resources needed.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the Roll off system for the Creedmoor location, including routes, resources and drivers.
- Ensure customer contract compliance.
- Coordinate with Safety, Maintenance, central dispatch, and operation managers to ensure delivery of the highest quality of service and profitability.
- Ensure scheduled drivers complete each day’s work.
- Supervise hauling company drivers and conduct inspections on commercial system vehicles.
- In collaboration with senior management, Human Resources and Safety, hire, train and supervise staff.
- Maintain a level of employment in accordance with workload in order to ensure quality service and safe productivity.
- Regularly review route data and interact with drivers to ensure that company standards and policies are upheld.
- Regularly interact with all drivers and helpers (including monitoring by video, as applicable) to ensure they are properly coached and guided, as well as reviewed.
- Ensure employees receive a performance evaluation at least annually.
- Monitor driver hours in order to limit labor expenditures and maintain Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) compliance.
- Review company fleet routing reports for accuracy.
- Review and/or investigate accidents and collaborate with senior management, if and as necessary.
- Attend at least one monthly Safety meeting.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or its equivalent
- Five years of experience managing operational systems
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite – e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook
- Excellent management and leadership skills
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Must demonstrate excellent time management skills
PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Solid waste background
- Some college courses
- Routing experience with commercial routes
- Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License
- Safe driving record for the last five years
REQUIRED LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS
- Valid Class C driver’s license
- Safe driving record for the last three years
