Roadway Construction Inspector

We are currently seeking a dedicated full-time Senior Roadway Construction Inspector to join our team in Jackson, TN. This pivotal role entails overseeing Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) projects in collaboration with the Tennessee Department of Transportation and local municipalities. The Senior Inspector will play a crucial role in supervising and mentoring junior Inspectors on-site.

**Responsibilities:**

- Execute comprehensive construction inspections on various projects including bridges, highways, and railroads, adhering to client-specific procedures and policies.

- Provide diligent oversight of inspection services to ensure compliance with project plans and specifications for all roadway, structural, and specialty components.

- Accurately document and monitor construction quantities for contractor payments.

- Maintain meticulous records of field measurements for client review and auditing purposes.

- Regularly assess and ensure the effectiveness of traffic control measures, recording observations and distributing reports as required.

- Conduct daily inspections of erosion control measures to ensure compliance with regulations and project requirements.

- Address and resolve any inquiries regarding pay quantities from contractors or clients.

- Maintain detailed daily diaries encompassing contractor details, project history, events, equipment usage, directives, and timelines.

- Supervise field personnel, providing guidance and solutions to queries as they arise.

- Facilitate the training of new Inspectors to uphold company standards.

- Undertake additional duties as necessary to support project requirements.

**Requirements:**

- Possess a minimum of 5 years of inspection experience.

- High school diploma preferred.

- Must hold a valid driver’s license.

- Proven experience in transportation construction inspection, particularly in bridge, roadway, and rail projects.

- Certifications in OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety Training, Radiation Safety/Nuclear Gauge/Hazmat Training, as well as TDOT or ACI Concrete Field Testing, TDOT Aggregate, and TDOT Hot Mix Asphalt Roadway.

- Familiarity with Site Manager Software and Roadway Plans is advantageous.

- Proficiency in ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) is desirable.

- Flexibility to work overtime, undertake limited nighttime construction duties, and engage in overnight travel as necessary.

Salary: $30.52 - $37.32 per hour
