Med Surg/Tele RN Nights

At least 2 years experience
BLS and ACLS required, Prefers NIHSS
Department: Medical Surgical | RN
- # Beds: 19
- Nurse: Patient Ratios: 1:3-5 Days and nights
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS Prefer NIHSS
- Common diagnoses/Types of patients: A-fib rvr, Resp distress, weakness, urosepsis, extended
recoveries- total hips/knees/hernia repairs. No peds.
- Experience: One year of experience. Okay with first-time traveler. Highly prefer they have
experience with cardiac drips.
- Are RNs required to titrate drips: Set rate only***
- Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Cardizem/Amiodarone, heparin.
- Are there tele/monitor techs on this unit: Tele- remote central monitoring at another facility.
Monitor tech reads and RNs verify 3 times per shift.
- Charge Nurse/House Supervisor: Charge nurse on both shifts. They take a patient load. Potential to
use traveler in a charge nurse role dependent on experience and staffing.
- Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios: 1 per shift. Unit secretary on most days.
- RT Equipment: O2, cpap. Bipap will typically ship out.
- Shifts & Scheduling: 12 hours 7a-7p. Will try to work with the schedule. Will not guarantee a block
schedule. The manager will discuss with the traveler and set up a schedule.
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend. Could be variable as they have some that work only
weekends.
- Holiday Requirement: Expected to work if the need is there.
- Is there a Call or a Standby requirement: No
- Floating Requirements: No
- Scrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs provided: Clean and professional scrubs. No specific color.
- Unit/Department specific orientation: 1-2 shifts on the unit with a preceptor.
