* $7500.00 Sign on Bonus to be paid out in increments over the course of one year.
A qualified candidate would review health-related documentation upon admission to a residential program and interviews the consumer about his/her health knowledge and assists in completion of yearly comprehensive assessment updates.
Individuals will need to assess consumer needs for primary and secondary medical services including yearly physicals, follow-up for recommended treatments, and review of relevant laboratory values, assist Mental Health Support Specialists in assessing needs for dental, ophthalmologic, nutritional, podiatry, or other supportive care as well as, physically assesses presenting conditions and provides direct care as indicated.
Medication management duties include assessing and reviewing referrals for service for medical and psychiatric orders for evidence of compliance with governing entities, assures that staff administering medications have immediate access to dosing information, expected effects, and side effects, reviews MAR’s prepared by staff prior to use each month and assures that they are correct.
Other responsibilities include reviewing completed Medication Administration Records at the conclusion of each month for: compliance with orders, administration of medications or properly documented reasons why the medication could not be administered, reviewing medication incident forms, discusses, and writes a plan of correction in consultation with the program manager and outlines concerns and discusses those with the program manager or other designated person as needed.
The registered nurse works closely with personnel to Identify consumer, staff, and/or program educational needs, discusses health and medication needs with providers as needed, transcribes telephone orders in emergencies, and confers with Clinical Supervisor as part of overall treatment planning.
This position is encouraged to prepare and deliver informal educational in-services with residential staff as needed and facilitates consumer groups focused on healthcare, medication and ADL needs.
Attending Professional Services meetings monthly and providing input for clinical practice in compliance with Maine State Board of Nursing Nurse Practice Act, development/ review of clinical forms, policies, procedures and protocols is also a necessary job function.
Minimum Qualifications:
Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maine.
Knowledge of physical assessment, pathophysiology, medication management.
At least one year of experience working with persons with Severe and Prolonged Mental Illnesses preferred.
Experience working with consumers in community programs.
Valid Me. Driver’s license.
Computer skills – Microsoft office products preferred.
