Minimum Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field.
Licensing/Registration/Certification Requirements:

- Maine ELA Teaching Certification (100) as issued by the Department of Education.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop curricula and educational plans
- Instruct classes
- Test students
- Evaluate student progress to help prepare them for educational or career pathways upon release.
- Evaluate student academic and social growth.
- Keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports.
- Maintain student discipline through adherence to accepted policies and regulations.
- Assist students in the development of desirable work habits, attitudes, and skills.
- Prepare lesson plans in accordance with curriculum.
- Meet with and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
- Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
- Create a classroom/career area environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
- Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals.
Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Department functions, objectives, policies, and programs.
- Curriculum development, classroom instruction, and educational planning.
- Modern Juvenile security principles and practices.
Ability to:
- Teach Language Arts at the middle school or secondary school level along with general education courses.
- Assess student needs and develop/modify instruction as necessary.
- Work effectively as an individual and as part of a team.
- Work with and manage atrisk youth.
- Provide necessary accommodations and modifications for growth and success of all students.***
