To meet the needs of patients with implanted intrathecal drug delivery devices through comprehensive patient assessments, nursing interventions, pump refills, dose adjustments and patient education. Nursing care is reviewed and adapted accordingly to facilitate mutually agreed upon goals. Policies, procedures, and standards of care are guided by the nursing process and nurse practice standards through a shared governance model.

Essential Elements of Targeted Drug Delivery (TDD) Infusion Specialist, RN Practice:
- All TDD Specialist Nurses will complete the ANCC accredited Nurse Fellowship Program upon hire.
- Demonstrates knowledge that reflects current nursing practice and maintains Pentec competencies for intrathecal drug delivery devices.
- Responsible for all elements of the nursing process including assessment, nursing diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation and evaluation for each patient.
- Collaborates with the prescribing Physician, patient and their caregivers as needed.
- Tailors education to meet each patient's/caregiver's healthcare literacy. Educates patients and caregivers on a healthy lifestyle and promotes informed decisions.
- Promotes integrative care techniques to assist the patient with symptom management to improve quality of life.
- Completes all required documentation accurately and within the required timeframe, as well as communicate with members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Maintains patient records in compliance with state, HIPAA and TJC requirements.
- Practices ethically and contributes qualitatively to Pentec nursing standards. Demonstrates professional leadership.
- Actively participates in Shared Governance and integrates evidence based research into their practice accordingly.
- Responsible for a schedule that is flexible but requires 24/7 accountability. Long distance driving may be required.
- Acts as a resource for referral sources, patients, and the healthcare team.
- Follows all Pentec policies, both Corporate and Nursing.
Skills, Competencies and Experience:
Required
- Demonstrate the skill and ability required for completion of Intrathecal Nurse Training Orientation program.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills coupled with excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and be a resourceful, proactive problem solver.
- Exhibits accurate critical thinking and ability to quickly assess and react to changes in patient conditions. Understands the criteria for standard versus urgent response.
- Ability to work in a remote home office and maintain productive, therapeutic boundaries.
- Possess strong organizational skills.
- Demonstrates teamwork through the ability to work well and communicate effectively with members of the health care team.
- Strong clinical background.
- 3 years clinical nursing experience.
- Perform other duties, special projects as assigned
Preferred
- ICU/ER/OR and/or home care experience preferred.
- Solid understanding of chronic pain/rehab principles
- BSN
Education, Certifications, Trainings:
Required
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse and the ability to become licensed in another state if needed
- Ability to perform CPR continuously in an emergency situation, according to American Heart/American Red Cross standards.

- Intermediate computer skills with programs such as Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Adobe PDF, Word, Excel and Power Point
- Knowledge of smart phones
