POSITION: RN Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Physician/CEO/COO
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for assisting the physician with patient care including taking vital signs, obtaining history and chief complaint; assisting with biopsies and select surgery procedures. Other responsibilities include patient education on treatment plans and medication, nursing procedures, such as suture removal, dressing changes and lab requisition documents. Provides both and clerical support regarding patient services.
Duties:
- Daily open and closing and all preparation of exam and treatment rooms according to physician preferences.
- Assists with any insurance preauthorization’s with the insurance company and communicates with patients regarding this.
- Escorts patients to exam rooms in order of appointment times. Obtains short history and vital signs as required by patient’s chief complaint. Obtains or updates medication list as necessary. Sets up exam room according to scheduled procedure or anticipate physicians needs if non-scheduled procedure is likely.
- Assists physicians with biopsies and surgical procedures such as excisions and other items needed.
- Schedule surgeries and prepare insurance and surgery packets.
- Completes disability forms with established time frames.
- Maintains daily logs and monitors and tracks all expiration dates of supplies and drugs.
- Orders all supplies and drugs and when supplies are received cross checks against packing label’s and puts in appropriate areas.
- Prepares specimens for laboratory pick up and completes all related paperwork.
- Educates patient as required after physician establishes the treatment plan. Ensures that the patient understands the treatment plan, understands the proper use of their medications, and understands their responsibility for compliance with the treatment plan prior to leaving the office.
- Straightens and cleans exam rooms after patient visits.
- Performs nursing procedures such as suture removal, dressing changes and other items required by the physician.
- Completely and correctly fills out all required pathology and laboratory requisition documents for patients as required by physicians.
