POSITION OVERVIEW:

Participate in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities. Promote application and adoption of information technologies in support of the advancement of clinical practice, patient care, and clinical functions aligned with the Great Falls Clinic mission and values. Demonstrates knowledge of current software systems, operation procedures, and technological developments. Assist with application implementation and system customization including the development of alerts, hard stops, data integration, order generation, automation of document entry, and enforcement of adherence to workflows and clinical best practice. Facilitate clinical content teamwork with physicians, nurses, pharmacists and other health care professionals to evaluate current EMR functionality and develop future applications by building compromise and using efficient decision-making processes. Develops, oversees, documents, and leads training and education to ensure a high degree of awareness and knowledge to support patient care. Maintains clinical dictionaries within the electronic health record to ensure proper system performance or enhance system functionality using interpretation, modification, analyzation, and best practice systems design. Assist with identifying problems and develop solutions through coordination and collaboration among differing clinical, information technology, and ancillary departments across the continuum of care for the resolution of issues relating to clinical systems. Provide technical support, diagnosis of application errors, and troubleshooting system issues. Collaborates with IT clinical governance, task force groups, and project steering committees to provide advice and direction regarding effective deployment of technology and application systems. Ensures clinical documentation is consistent with patient care requirements and related procedures. Maintains awareness of and familiarity with various aspects of user access. Maintains awareness of and familiarity with information system processing, networking, interfacing, and clinical device troubleshooting and end user usage. Uses project management and process improvement techniques to guide clinical processes, systems design, integrate technology usage, and increase adoption. Demonstrates an ability to be flexible and organized. Maintains a good working relationship both within the department, other departments, consultants, and vendors. Demonstrates the ability to deal with a variety of people, stressful situations, and handle conflict. Demonstrates the ability to deal with pressure to meet deadlines, to be accurate, and to handle constantly changing situations. Consistently demonstrates a professional, self-directed approach to responsibilities. Accepts additional responsibilities as assigned. Attends clinical systems meetings. Available to take after hours on call duty.

EDUCATION:

  • Registered Nurse: ASN / ADN, required.
  • Registered Nurse: BSN, preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Registered Nurse: 3 years Inpatient Acute Care, required.
  • Registered Nurse: 5 years Inpatient Acute Care, preferred.
  • Staff development and education, preferred.
  • Meditech experience, preferred.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Current or Eligible for MT Registered Nurse licensure, required.
  • Certification of formal training in Clinical Informatics, preferred.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities, required.
  • Customer service orientated, required.
  • Strong knowledge of systems analysis, workflow planning, gathering business requirements, and transforming them into functional specifications, preferred.
