- Oversees the Cardiac Rehab. Program for all program participants.
- Contributes expertise as a member of a multi-disciplinary team to offer comprehensive treament stategies to provide positive outcomes for individual participants.
- Performs initial intake interview and completes Cardiac Rehabilitation Program Nurse Assessment for all participants, and develops a personalized treatment plan for each individual with team of staff members.
- Evaluates a person’s overall health, with special attention to cardiovascular function and metabolism.
- Obtains physician consent for all participants.
- Meets with medical director weekly to review the plan of care for all participants.
- Records blood pressures, observes patient's condition, observes monitor for indications of positive tests or other complications.
- Performs pulse oximetry recognizing variation in methods and testing parameters required for various age groups.
- Monitors and records heart activity, using telemetry, while participant undergoes exercise on rehab. equipment, under physician's supervision.
- Assesses body composition using scale, tape measure, skinfold calipers or other techniques.
- Explains program and test procedures to participants.
- Supervises exercise session, monitoring participants for inappropriate responses to exercise.
- Adjusts individual exercise prescription according to participant’s daily response in rehab., and physician recommendations.
- Documents initial and daily assessment data in participant records.
- Advises patients about nutrition, risk reduction, and ongoing exercise regimens.
- Teaches patient education and behavior modification classes.
- Immediately reports any new, changing, and/or significant participant conditions to the physician supervising the program.
- Initiates ACLS measures and/or emergency care according to department policy.
- Attends and participates in staff meetings, educational programs, in-service meetings, workshops, and other activities as related to job performance and job knowledge to remain current in the field of Cardiac Rehabilitation.
- Performs other work related duties as assigned or requested.

- Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing required.
- Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- Successful passage of Basic Arrhythmia Program or challenge exam.
- 1 year experience as an RN in cardiac intensive care OR 1 year other intensive care RN experience and experience involving cardiac risk factor intervention and exercise prescription OR 6 months experience as an RN in cardiac intensive care and 6 months experience as an RN in Cardiac Rehab.
- ACLS from the American Heart Association.
- Demonstrates ability to perform necessary skills and competencies required for position.
- Previous experience in adult fitness or Cardiac Rehabilitation preferred.
