Position Overview
This position is most ideal for an experienced Risk Manager looking to take ownership of the role, while overseeing the organization’s comprehensive insurance and risk management program, assessing and identifying risks that could impede the reputation, safety, security, or financial success of the organization.
Essential Functions
- Conducts risk assessments, collecting and analyzing documentation, statistics, reports, and market trends.
- Establishes policies and procedures to identify and address risks in the organizations services and departments.
- Reviews and assesses risk management policies and protocols; makes recommendations and implements modifications and improvements.
- Recommends and implements risk management solutions such as insurance, safety and security policies, business continuity plans, or recovery measures.
- Reviews and analyzes metrics and data such as cash flow, inventory, breakage, and employee activity that could uncover fraudulent behavior.
- Drafts and presents risk reports and proposals to executive leadership and senior staff.
Incident Reports
- Review and process all incident reports
Property Claims
- Review incident reports and work with appropriate parties to determine if deductible will apply
- Report claims to Broker and other appropriate parties including description of incident and damage along with local contact person and phone number
- Participate in calls with TPA(Third Party Administrator) and Broker claim team to monitor and oversee status of claims and proceeds from carriers
- Attend quarterly claims calls to discuss status of open claims
Lease and Vendor Contract Review
- Work with Broker on lease and contract language review with regard to property, liability and indemnity clauses
Acquisitions and Dispositions
- Gather information for due diligence on either acquisition or disposition
New Loans and/or Refinancing
- Work with lenders insurance consultants in providing certificates of insurance, endorsements or other necessary requirements
- Follow up on their questions and explain Clients coverage so that additional requirements are not needed (i.e.: blanket coverage, not being tied to schedule of values, quarterly adjustments, etc.)
Insurance Policy Management
- Process COI renewals/ requests from lenders, vendors, property managers and/or joint venture partners
- Update schedule of values with current year activity
- Work with Brokers to set up carrier meetings and/or calls
- Follow-up on any carrier questions
- Conduct calls with Brokers to manage status of renewals
- Discuss any policy changes
- Discuss any carrier decisions
- Keep internal team updated on status
Premium Allocations and Billing
- Allocate property and liability premiums
- Present Client team with rational for approval
- Work with Brokers to invoice
- Distribute the analysts and track payments
- Work with TPA on funding aggregate premium
- Provide lenders payment receipts when requested
- Work with Brokers on setting up rate matrix for upcoming year
Safety and Loss Control
- Work with Brokers, asset managers and local community managers on requested carrier site visits
- Review incident reports looking for trends
- Work with Brokers on loss control ideas and implementation
Qualifications
- 2 - 5 years + of relevant Risk Management experience with demonstrated insurance policy administration.
- 2 - 5 years + knowledge of principles and practices of risk management activities such as risk identification/ reduction, loss control, asset protection, employee safety, workers ‘compensation.
- Ability to conduct research, collect and analyze data and prepare written and oral reports.
Education/Training
- Bachelor's Degree in business from an accredited college or university with concentration in Risk Management, ERM, or related field and/ or associate in risk management ARM).
- Licensed Real Estate Broker preferred
