Responsibilities
We have an exciting opportunity for a Property & Casualty Risk Engineer to join our team! You will promote Risk Management practices to support our Berkley Life Sciences business. You will consult with other departments and develop/execute a business plan focused on enhancing Risk Management business services to brokers and policy holders. You will also be responsible for collaborating with life science policyholders and their brokers to evaluate risk exposure and deliver loss mitigation services in the areas of property, workers compensation, product liability, auto, and premises liability. We are seeking candidates with general P&C experience, will train in the life sciences sector.
We are open to fully remote in the United States
Key functions of the role include but are not limited to:
  • Develop and execute a national plan to market and secure partnering with brokers and insureds to deliver traditional Risk Management business consultations
  • Develop client service educational content in the area of life science business Risk Management including but not limited to white papers, panel participation, and physical and e- tool platforms
  • Deliver superior Risk Management service to clients and brokers nationally; service in many cases will require customization and detail specific to individual customers
  • Actively engage with industry and broker associations
  • Manage national projects related to business Risk Management initiatives; project work will involve interdepartmental collaboration between underwriting, claims, legal, and marketing

Note: This is not a traditional loss control position; rather, the successful candidate will be a problem solver, not an 'inspector'. This role is for a business professional with strong technical and interpersonal skills.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in one or more of the following fields of study is required: Safety Management, Risk Management and Insurance, Business Management, Industrial or Environmental Engineering, Biotechnology, Biology and/or Science Majors
  • 5+ years of Risk Management or related experience in the corporate environment, preferably in the life science and P&C insurance industry
  • Professional designations including CSP, CIH, CHMM, CFPS or ARM desired, or must be willing to attain
  • Calm under pressure; you have excellent organizational skills, integrity, and great follow-through on tasks; you are comfortable challenging norms while working collaboratively with colleagues at all levels of the organization
  • The work environment is highly automated and autonomous and requires strong computer skills, including Microsoft office suite, as well as the ability to self-motivate, efficiently manage time, and develop/ execute national goals and objectives independently utilizing the practice of extreme ownership
  • Ability to manage projects, collaborate across multiple disciplines, and prioritize tasks based on short- and long-term objectives of the role, department, and organization
  • Travel approx 25-35%

The company offers a competitive compensation plan and robust benefits package for full time regular employees including:
• Base Salary Range: $75,000 - $130,000
• Eligible to participate in annual discretionary bonus
• Benefits include: Health, dental, vision, dental, life, disability, wellness, paid time off, 401(k) and profit-sharing plans
The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
