Position Title: Risk Manager
Location: Torrance, CA (Onsite)
Reports to: President & CEO
FLSA Status: Exempt

OVERVIEW:
A global company with over 12,000 employees is looking for an experienced Risk Manager to oversee the risk and legal operations of the holding company and its subsidiaries.
The Risk Manager is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive risk management strategies that align with the organization's overall objectives. The qualified candidate can proactively identify, assess, and mitigate potential threats to the company's success as well as develop hands-on risk models and manage legal duties.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT ARE LIMITED TO:
Legal:
• Collaborate with external legal counsel to address legal issues and implement legal strategies and standards.
• Handle and resolve complex legal matters related to risk control.
• Serve as general legal counsel for the holding company and its subsidiaries.
• Establish and oversee internal governance policies.
• Stay abreast of evolving laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
• Manage the legal budget effectively.
• Conduct periodic compliance assessments as needed.
• Draft and review the legality of transactions, contracts, agreements, and joint ventures when necessary.
• Manage and oversee Export Administration Regulation (EAR) compliance for the holding company and its subsidiaries.

Risk Management:
• Design and implement a comprehensive risk management process for the organization, considering the potential financial impact of risks on the company.
• Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify and analyze current and potential risks affecting the company.
• Evaluate the company's previous risk handling strategies and compare potential risks against established criteria, including costs and legal requirements.
• Determine the acceptable level of risk the company is willing to take.
• Prepare risk management and insurance budgets to ensure adequate protection against potential losses.
• Tailor risk reporting to the appropriate audience, educating the board of directors about significant business risks, informing business heads about risks affecting their departments, and promoting individual accountability for risk management.
• Clearly communicate the external risks posed by corporate governance to stakeholders.
• Develop business continuity plans to minimize the impact of potential disruptions.
• Implement health and safety measures, including purchasing adequate insurance coverage.
• Conduct regular policy and compliance audits, collaborating with both internal and external auditors.
• Maintain accurate records of insurance policies and claims.
• Review all new major contracts and internal business proposals for potential risks.
• Promote risk awareness among staff through training and support initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Legal, Business or a related field. Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CRM, ARM) is a plus.
• 5+ years of experience in risk management or legal counsel, with a track record of successfully implementing risk mitigation strategies.
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively across departments and levels of the organization.
• Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.

The base pay range above represents the low and high end of the base compensation range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual base compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, actual experience, and job performance.
