Compensation/Benefits:
- Full-time, non-exempt position: $23-25 hourly DOE
- 100% employer-paid medical, vision, and dental premiums.
- Eleven paid holidays, vacation, and sick time.
Position Summary:
The Housing Retention Specialist will provide housing stabilization support to help individuals who have recently transitioned into housing.
Accountability:
Accountable to Director of Housing and Sheltering
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Completes required trainings within 30 days of hire (CPR, Blood borne pathogens, food handlers, etc.)
- Attends all assigned trainings and meetings unless otherwise approved.
- Applying an Assertive Engagement skills and a trauma-informed approach, you will work to empower individuals to maintain permanent, independent housing through acquiring income, promoting physical and emotional health, and building community.
- Meeting with clients regularly to offer one-on-one support and to create a case plan that fits the needs of the client. Often these meetings are house visits.
- Work cooperatively with multiple agencies and attend team meetings to connect households to services including workforce training, domestic violence support, and wellness resources.
- Supports neighbors in building relationships and connection to community, through activities.
- Conducts self within appropriate and expected professional boundaries and policies.
- Maintains confidentiality and earns others’ trust and respect through consistent
honesty and professionalism in All Interactions.
- Ensure prompt case notes, documentation, and data quality within HMIS (Homeless Management Information Systems) and other organizational data and case management systems.
- Represent Cultivate Initiatives to partners, Joint Office of Homeless Services, and the broader community.
- May participate in special projects and activities.
- May perform other duties as requested by supervisor.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Must be able to provide proof of Driver’s License.
- Ability to reliably show up on time and keep appointments scheduled with neighbors.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous shelter or housing retention experience.
- HMIS data entry experience
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand or walk for prolonged periods, and ability to stoop and kneel occasionally.
- Ability to speak and hear to use telephone
- Ability to effectively use computer, lift paper and files
- Ability to push, pull reach for and lift articles up to 40 pounds.
